Watching some old time music on YouTube, I was confronted with a Samsung advertisement that claims they design for everyone. Apparently, Samsung sees in every refrigerator: great hosts. Which is getting pretty close to Papanek's non-transcendental fridge. For Papanek "There can be no transcendental refrigerator, no righteous chair, no moral tea kettle" (p 49) (Papanek, Victor. (1995) The Green Imperative: Ecology and Ethics in Design and
Architecture. London: Thames & Hudson).
Cheers
