Dear list members,
In relation to Ken's post and some reflections/ideas/discoveries from my doctoral project, I wonder if you could share some of your knowledge regarding the next issue:
I know from personal experience, friends and colleges that in some countries (maybe in all of them) Architects require a licence in order to sign blue prints and build (signed blue prints from a "registered" architect is compulsory to get the construction permit).
I have no detailed knowledge about these licences, but intuitively I can imagine they are there to "certify" in some degree the quality of the Architects' work and (guaranty maybe?) that such professional goes under a constant update in techniques, materials, sustainability, etc. So potential life-threatening errors can be avoided.
My question will be if my previous assumptions are right, but more importantly for my research is, if somewhere around the world these type of licences/certifications exist for Industrial Designers, or if this issue has been discussed in serious forums and their outcomes.
Thank you for your support,
