medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Thank you to Stan, Phil and Karl for pointing me in the right direction. I
have to say that I prefer 2010 to 1994. My memory is just of the impression
the rolling sound of all those years made. In fact my husband is so
impressed, he is thinking of changing the traditional introduction of our
church nativity ('In the beginning was the Word...') to encompass it.
Thank you again.
all best wishes,
Rosemary

This would be beautiful, either sung or simply read, especially for a
congregation that has never heard it.
I note that the 1994 translation tactfully obscures the traditional "In the
five thousand one hundred and ninety-ninth year of the creation of the world
from the time when God in the beginning created the heavens and the earth",
changing it to "unknown ages from the time when God created the heavens and
the earth and then formed man and woman in his own image."
Thus modern science.
