On behalf of the UK federation, I'd like to clarify some terminology.
On 28 August 2013 the UK federation made a technical change to the
format of our metadata aggregate. We started signing our production
aggregate with a digital signature profile based on SHA-256. We
contacted all UK federation entity owners prior to the change, and
described several measures that could mitigate the effects of that
change. Some members needed to update their software to be able to
consume this new format.
I'll also take this opportunity to remind members that one of those
mitigation measures will become unavailable after Monday 6 January 2014,
when we start signing our fallback aggregate with a SHA-256 signature
profile. The SHA-1 signature profile will not be supported in any UK
federation metadata aggregate after that date.
If you need specific advice regarding the format of the UK federation
metadata, please don't hesitate to email us at [log in to unmask]
Thanks,
Alex
