Dear Angela:
We are using Facebook since almost a year ago (last November) and the level of engagement with students is quite low yet. And the beginning we didn’t had much feedback either.
Our best allied to promote our Facebook was the University Facebook page, we ask them to repost some of our posts so they could reach larger audiences. We also repost in other Faculties Facebook pages.
We have learn, out of our statistics, the subjects that get more “likes”, perhaps they can help you:
- Current news (national or international news)
- News and updates from our Library (information about new acquisitions and databases)
- University law (an issue which actually is being discussed in the Congress)
- Technology, apps, social networks, online courses, games.
- Youth and Generation Y
- “How too” (How to write a curriculum vitae, How to study, How to go to a job interview, etc).
Some other tips:
Use a lot of images, infographies, humor and color.
Hope this will help you.
Our best regards from the Universidad de Lima Library

Dear all,
Our Library has been using Facebook for a year now and has just launched Twitter but despite best efforts we do not seem to have many 'likes' or 'followers' respectively. Is anyone else using these to actively engage with their students and if so how do you promote them? I am very willing to collate the information I receive so if you would prefer to email me off the list that is fine too.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Best wishes,
Angela Duckworth
