Hi Angela
UCISA have held a couple of events showcasing where Universities have used Twitter and other social media. See:
http://www.ucisa.ac.uk/groups/ssg/Events/2012/SocialMediaTraining/Programme.aspx
http://www.ucisa.ac.uk/groups/ssg/Events/2012/socialmedia/Abstracts.aspx
There are slides, abstracts and even video recordings of many of the sessions.
Also Sheffield IT Service desk use Twitter to communicate with students. There is a case study of one instance where they used it here http://www.ucisa.ac.uk/bestpractice/awards/amma/2012.aspx
I write this as the Chair of the UCISA User Skills Group so am au fait with those events/activities. I will also (cheekily) take the opportunity to flag up our "Changing Landscapes" event next February which will include case study presentations on innovative solutions. http://www.ucisa.ac.uk/groups/dsdg/Events/2014/changing.aspx . This event is particularly relevant to anyone involved in Digital Literacy training or support.
Regards
Gillian

Dear all,
Our Library has been using Facebook for a year now and has just launched Twitter but despite best efforts we do not seem to have many 'likes' or 'followers' respectively. Is anyone else using these to actively engage with their students and if so how do you promote them? I am very willing to collate the information I receive so if you would prefer to email me off the list that is fine too.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Best wishes,
Angela Duckworth
