In my previous centre we had a TA who had some relaxation/meditation training and offered to run lunchtime sessions for students. We set up a 6 wk block of 45 min lunchtime sessions once a week. It worked really well and definitely diverted the mild to moderate anxiety kids from needing small rooms. We also used to say that unless students had been proactive in seeking that kind of help they couldn’t then demand special arrangements. For the more serious cases there was usually some kind of GP intervention anyway at that stage.
I am going to introduce the same system here this year as the requests are getting out of hand!

Subject: Students in Separate Rooms
Hi all
We have a lot of anxious/panic attack students who request smaller/separate rooms. We are thinking of suggesting that they attend some sort of workshop prior to exams to try and help them overcome their problems. Has anyone ever done this, and if so, did you buy in someone to run it or did you run it in house?
Thanks.
