Dear Alexander (and other sigma-network list members)
Please do not apologise for posting a message or replying to the whole list. If something is a matter of interest or concern to one member, it will most likely be of interest to others too.
I know many people like to "keep an eye" on topics that others are discussing, and this can add to a sense of professional community. (Of course, if the reply is sensitive in any way, it should just go to the original poster.)
People who prefer not to have discussion-type emails coming into their inbox in real time can choose to change their jiscmail list settings to "digest". Log into your account at www.jiiscmail.ac.uk, click "Subscribers Corner" (top left) to see a listing of the discussion lists you are subscribed to. Then click on "settings" against the appropriate list, and set "Subscription type" to Digest. The jiscmail website Help pages have further useful information on managing your account.
I hope that the sigma-network jiscmail list will grow into a lively forum where people engaged in cross-university mathematics and statistics teaching and support can share experiences, ask for ideas and further develop our community of practice.
Best wishes for a good start to the new academic year.
David
