Movement in G Major
There's a stillness at the stadium before the siren sounds;
black keys next to white keys: your eyes run up and down.
After the anthem, cheering, and this is now the sign:
the instrument unfurls itself, peels off the centre line.
The bounce announces play time, a strategy is picked.
A Tall taps to a rover, who with a flourish, forward flicks;
expertise is stretched out; see those vast and potent wings,
next comes the crunch and inward squeeze, a full regathering.
Rippling rorting whites and blacks belt out the melody.
Where else could such a show go on but at the MCG?
All the stops are pulled out in the final stanza -
Hooray the keyboard Collingwood extrava-bloody-ganza!
