I can't offer much, but the Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church
states that exorcism "has always been applied to catechumens" and the IVP
New Dictionary of Theology adds that exorcism "was commonly an element of
the baptismal rite, and the Clementine Recognitions state that baptism
frees a person from an unclean spirit." Neither gives any references that
are obviously useful.
