Greetings!
With the abstract deadline of August 6 rapidly approaching, we want to invite you to participate in a theme session at the upcoming Geological Society of America National Meeting highlighting the tectonic evolution of hinterland, retroarc fold-thrust belt, and foreland systems, including the North America and South American Cordilleras. We encourage you, your colleagues, and students to submit an abstract to this or other related sessions- to submit an abstract go to https://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2013AM/cfp.epl and for this session select T208). We are looking forward to an energetic session where geoscientists will explore connections between plate-scale dynamic to microstructural processes, bridge deep lithospheric to surface level observations, and share insights from comparative studies across and between Andean-style orogenic belts.
We sincerely hope you are able to participate in this session as GSA celebrates its 125th anniversary!

T208. Hinterland, Retroarc Fold-Thrust Belt, and Foreland Systems
The North American Cordillera is a classic orogenic system that evolved in response to subduction-related processes. This session will bring together new ideas on plate-scale geodynamics to deformation mechanisms that have shaped the hinterland, retroarc fold-thrust belt, and deformed foreland.
Type: Oral
