Dear Colleagues,
we invite you to submit an abstract to the following session at the AGU
Fall Meeting, December 9-13 in San Francisco, CA. The description for
T007: Continent-Continent Suturing can be found below. Abstracts can be
submitted at https://fallmeeting.agu.org/2013/account/ by August 6.
Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the session.
Thank you for your consideration,

T007. Continent-Continent Suturing
The suturing of continental fragments is a fundamental process in the
growth of Earth’s continents, yet our understanding of numerous aspects
of this process remains limited. For example, what are the geological
imprints of pre-suturing ophiolite obduction and possible collision with
intraoceanic arcs? Is oceanic rollback and opening of marginal ocean
basins typical of pre-climax collision zones? How is the upper-plate
system conditioned by pre-suturing tectonism and how does magmatism
evolve during suturing? We invite contributions that utilize geological,
geochemical, and geophysical data and modeling to shed light on the
suturing process. Studies from active and paleo-suture zones are welcomed.
