Dear colleagues,
We welcome your contributions to the session V013. Fluids in Slabs:
Chemical and Physical Studies of Volatile-Bearing Minerals in Subduction
Zones at the AGU Fall meeting.
Session Description:
Hydrous and CO2-bearing minerals in subduction zones drive element
cycling and influence the physical state of slabs. Experimental and
modeling studies as well as natural observations reveal the phase
stability and consequences of devolatilization and transfer of (COH)
fluids. Field-based studies of subduction complexes document
P-T-time-deformation histories and geochemical and textural data
relevant to understanding fluid-rock interaction. This session welcomes
field, lab, and modeling studies involving geochemistry, petrology,
structural geology, or geophysics to understand subduction processes
involving minerals such as lawsonite, epidote, phyllosilicates,
amphiboles, and carbonates.
The session is convened by Donna Whitney, Alberto Vitale Brovarone, and
Sean Mulcahy and will have invited presentations by Jennifer Jackson,
Tatsuki Tsujimori, Nadia Malaspina, and Jose Alberto Padron-Navarta.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting,
