Dear colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the following session to be held at the 2013 AGU Fall meeting:
MR003. Advances in Rock Physics and Rock Mechanics - From Faults to Reservoirs
Finding viable solutions to some of the problems threatening our environment hinges on understanding the rocks below the Earth’s surface. This general session is opened to rock physics studies evaluating the mechanisms at play during earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, charting the flow of groundwater through the earth, assessing relative hazards of radioactive waste sites, investigating energy resources such as oil, gas, and hydrothermal energy. We invite novel contributions based on laboratory experiments, numerical modeling and field work (or a combination of these) relative to the understanding of: 1) Rupture mechanics and frictional processes2) Physical and mechanical properties of rocks3) Fracture and flow
Invited speakers:
Spiers C., University of Utrecht
Faulkner D., University of Liverpool
Baud P., University of Strasbourg
Violay M., ETH-Zurich
Conveners:
- Alexandre Schubnel, ENS-Paris, e-mail: [log in to unmask]
- Heather Savage, Columbia University, e-mail: [log in to unmask]
- Sergio Vinciguerra, University of Leicester/British Geological Survey, e-mail: [log in to unmask]
I apologise for multiple posting
Best Regards
Sergio Vinciguerra
