Dear all,
I promised to summarise anonymised responses to my query
about how other libraries house and authenticate access to digitised
materials. I had 6 replies: 2 libraries are using their VLE server for this,
2 are using authenticated document servers, 1 is using an authenticated
folder on a webserver, and 1 is using specialist software. I think it
demonstrates that there's no commonly accepted way of handling this
requirement, and that at the moment there's no affordable product available
for handling it simply. As for us, we're still looking.........
