If such may happen, would it not be sensible to return the archives to
'public' until the wish of the members has been ascertained? As Andy has
said, it would be ethically difficult to return to 'public' after the
archives had been 'private' for any significant period of time, since
members will, during that period, have posted messages in the belief that
they were not (ever) going to go into a publically-accessible archive.
