I don't necessarily disagree with the report but it is worth noting that most defenses of liberal arts education end up preserving the rhetoric of "broad-gauged, integrative courses on which liberal education can be grounded" and the reality of randomly-chosen introductions to aspects of academic subjects that are on the menu of "liberal arts." I'm not the only one who has noted the similarity to the menu at some Chinese restaurants: One from column A, two from column B. . . .
I'll have intro to sociology, 18th century English literature, and the garlic chicken.
