Dear Sarah,
MCG list is a good place to ask, and I see you have had some good responses. With my MCG committee member hat on, I welcome you to just ask away, even if you're not sure or can't be precise about framing your question. This is encouraged - this is an open support community!
There's more than 1000 knowledgeable person who will either answer it or send you in the right direction.
I was going to suggest you also ask on digitalmedia list. I see this is mentioned by Zak Mensah (thanks!), but in case you have not seen the list itself before here it is:
http://www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk/mailing-list/
It has some Venn diagram moments with this list and complements it.
As a recent Android user, I find the out of the box audio recorder on my S4 is really very good. I'll be off trying out TapeMachine Recorder - thanks, Robin Patel.
Thanks all,
Andrew

Subject: Audio Recording Devices
Hi there,
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, however, it
seems to be the most appropriate of all my e-newsletters! Some of you may
have seen my post today on the GEM newsletter, asking in general about
community audio trails. I am an MA student at the IoE in Museums and
Galleries in Education and am embarking on my final course project for
which I am looking into and would like to create my own community audio
trail for a park. I would like the sound quality to sound as professional
as possible. I am looking into lower range professional sound recording
devices as well as considering if there is something that could be used in
conjunction with my iphone. Basically, I would really appreciate any advice
that anyone has on here.
Thanking you in advance,
Best Wishes,
Sarah
