PURPOSE
To drive the creation of compelling digital content across the organisation, ensure audience experiences online are coherent, supporting brand, reputation and audience engagement and to encourage and increase audience engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Introduce and drive culture change across the organisation, building confidence and awareness in digital media editorially.
• Train and support a new cadre of content editors and creators, including super-users who will in due course be able to self publish.
• Develop and lead a content strategy and associated delivery plan, including content type, audience and authoring department
• Contribute to development of new governance models and lead editorial direction with Director of Communications.
• Commission all types of content including AV and photographic
• Create written content.
• Oversee and provide effective quality assurance, including devising policy, documenting editorial processes and developing guidance.
• Ensure content optimised for SEO.
• Work closely with other departments with editorial and content responsibilities, including Marketing, Press, Events & Exhibitions, and Literary, and with other digital teams, including Graphics and IT to ensure regular, fresh and engaging content.
• Manage editorial assistant role.
ATTRIBUTES
Essential attributes:
• Proven senior journalistic and editorial experience in a busy current newsroom/magazine/digital publishing environment, commissioning and creating content for multiple platforms
• Exemplary writing and editing skills.
• Familiarity and confidence with social media
• Proven experience in delivering strategic change across an organisation and chairing editorial meetings.
• Proven and confident experience in skills transfer, including creating training materials and delivering training to non-experts.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Strong organisational and project management skills
• Experience in working effectively with virtual or extended teams outside direct control to deliver change and strong ability to build effective relationships cross-departmentally.
• Hands on experience of working within a CMS environment and strong digital understanding
• Line management experience.
Desirable attributes
• Red Dot experience.
• Broadcast experience

This postition is based at the RSC Administration Offices in Stratford-upon-Avon The position is offered as a fixed-term maternity cover contract until March 2014.
