Hi all,
I hope you are all as well as you can be, I've been struggling with something at work and thought this may be a good forum to share and discuss it, in doing so hopefully feel supported too. I'm becoming increasingly uncertain of how to manage and challenge the 'lust for power' that occurs in myself and in teams within the NHS mental health services.
I would like to believe that I am relatively ok at challenging disempowering practices, be it directly or indirectly, however I'm finding myself somewhat drawn to being apathetic at best or at worse engaging with disempowering practices. I'd be really interested in hearing how people continue to challenge and resist being disempowering whilst also retaining your employment and utilising the power that they do have.
I'm aware that there can be some radical solutions, and I'm interested in these....I'm also interested in the small wins, selfishly perhaps for myself so I can continue fighting for the big(ger) wins.
Looking forward to your replies,
Abdullah
