Assistant/Associate Professor of Interaction Design
Applications are invited for two positions in Interaction Design at the Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark. The positions are available from August 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The positions will contribute to the new interdisciplinary research initiative SDU Design in Kolding that brings together researchers from the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Engineering to develop new directions in the field of design. Expect to collaborate with design-antropologists, interaction analysts, business designers etc. We build on a strong tradition of practice-based research and close collaboration with industry from the SPIRE centre of Participatory Innovation.
Research areas for these positions include tangible user interaction, interaction aesthetics, interaction prototyping, experience design, embodied design. You are encouraged to describe the field of research you want to pursue.
For the assistant professor level, applicants must have a master degree in industrial design and a PhD within the field of interaction design. The assistant professor is a 3-year temporary position.
For the associate professor level, applicants must have a master degree in industrial design and a PhD within the field of interaction design plus additionally a minimum of 3 years relevant research experience. Please indicate which level you apply for.
Teaching responsibilities for the positions relate to the BEng in Interaction Design and the MSc in IT Product Design.

Professor of Participatory Innovation
Applications are invited for a 5-year position in Participatory Innovation at the Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark. The position is available from August 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position will provide an influential contribution to the new interdisciplinary research initiative SDU Design in Kolding that brings together researchers from the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Engineering to develop new directions in the field of design. In continuation of the SPIRE centre for Participatory Innovation research, the new initiative will spearhead experimental approaches to collaboration (like organisational theatre) and action research in industry projects.
The successful applicant will be expected to position SDU Design internationally, to attract and lead research projects with external funding, and to enhance graduate and PhD education.
Applicants must demonstrate (a) a record of research contributions on international level in the field of complex responsive processes of relating, (b) an exceptional teaching portfolio, (c) experience in successfully organising and supervising interdisciplinary activities and (d) proficiency in establishing collaboration with industry. Applicants must hold a PhD degree within management or organisational change and preferably have practical experience from industry or consultancy.
Teaching responsibilities for the positions relate to the BEng in Interaction Design and the MSc in IT Product Design. The teaching language for both programmes is English.
