*Music & Music Technology* at Keele University was established in 1973.
Situated in the early 19th-century Clock House (a listed building in a
scenic part of the campus) and the modern Lindsay Studios complex, our
postgraduate courses provide advanced musical training while stimulating
creativity, critical thinking, and the development of key professional
skills. Our Staff of composers, musicologists and performers includes
specialists in classical music, jazz, rock and pop, film/TV scoring, and
world music. Keele’s undergraduate Music and Music Technology degree
programmes are rated in the Top 10 for Overall Student Satisfaction in both
the Guardian and Times 2011 university guides; in the most recent research
assessment exercise, Music and Music Technology at Keele were the highest
rated research group in the entire University.

We are seeking applicants who wish to undertake an MRes in Music with a
final project in Composition, Performance or Conducting.
*PhD studentship*
Applications are invited in the areas of musicology, composition and music
technology, which fit well with the staff expertise in Music at Keele. Staff
and research students concentrate on composition, electroacoustic music and
digital arts, nineteenth - twenty-first century European music, film,
analysis, critical theory and cultural history.
Areas of particular current interest include:
- Musical life, commemoration and legacy during and after the First
World War
- Film/TV music, narrative, embodiment
- German music and aesthetics since 1968
- Electroacoustic Audio-Visual Composition
- Gesture and interfaces for music expression

full-time maintenance stipend level for Professional Preparation Masters
