Thanks for your explanation. No worries.
There are a few things I don't recall joking about. I do think that research methods and methodology are important for those of us who work in universities and research centers, and certainly for those who teach and supervise doctoral students. But the very fact that some students can mistake issues such as this are why it wouldn't likely be something I would say.
I can see that you did not mean to attribute this to me as a quote — the post seemed ambiguous, but your comments make it clear.
