medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
thank you, Christopher, for the citation of the new edition of Guibert's
De sanctis
> . a note in the introduction says that the new translation was done
> from a new edition by Huygens
CCCM 127, p. 95-6, says Cameracensis decanus, as PL (resp. D'Achery) does
> *was* there a "Dean" [decanus] of Cambrai in the early 12th c.?
in the Gallia Christiana - not the most reliable source! - in vol. 3,
pp. 25 and 27, there are deans (decani) of Cambrai, and, to make matters
more complicated, there is an Erlebaldus prepositus (!) in 1101 and 1118.
> wasn't Cambrai in the province of Reims
yes, it was
Best, Herwig
