I agree with this comment, perhaps Mike should contact the EOA to see if
they can be of any help.
Good luck Mike

I suspect that even if your union got involved, they wouldn't understand
the issues involved enough to fight your case. Could the EOA help with
putting a case to the SMT - if the SMT would even listen?

Good Morning everyone
The funny thing is that the bulk of exams staff are at work today but
the academics are on the Easter break, they won't be able to have these
long holidays when they are running exams!
In some ways it would be rewarding to be made redundant and to have the
luxury of relaxing at home knowing what a terrible mess the exam system
was going to become, the stress they would feel and the trouble that
would follow when the Inspector dropped in!!
It's not as if we are all earning huge salaries, in fact I think that we
are all underpaid for the responsibility we have.

Good morning Mike
I have just read your shocking news, and re-iterate all the comments
that have been made, the Management are so short sighted and ignorant of
the things we examinations officers do. I was called in to the VP
office 2/3 weeks ago now, and it was said that as the January
examination series is no more what other areas of the College would I
consider working in, told to give it some thought as she would get back
to me , still waiting.
Take care Mike and if there is anything we can do just let us know, and
up the revolution!
Regards
Karen

Hi all, first I would like to say happy Easter Then I would like to say
beware. This college has decided and issued its proposal to close the
exams department in full. All exams work will be placed in to
curriculum.
Please can I ask that if there are or you know of any colleges out in
the big wide world that do not have a dedicated exams officer or no
exams officer at all.
If you have any view as to the above please can you respond ASAP so that
I can reiterate it to the head of this centre as I Firmly believe she
has made a drastic error of judgment.
If you do not reply may I take the time to thank you for your support
over the past six years and wish all of you the best for the future
(especially administering the functional skills exams :) Please watch
your backs as quality (so I'm am being told) is not important, just the
pennies count.
Thanks
