As part of a larger recruitment exercise the School of Mathematics has
an opportunity to appoint to a Chancellor's Fellowship in Statistics.
Each Fellowship provides a research-focused reduced-teaching position
for up to 5 years, followed immediately by a standard open-ended (ie
"tenured") lectureship or readership post.
Applicants will have a research record of the highest calibre,
exhibiting the potential to become an international leader.
We welcome candidates in any area of Statistics but in particular those
specializing for example in Bayesian statistics, nonregular models and
applied computational statistics. We also welcome candidates whose
interests may interact with other disciplines, in particular
geosciences, informatics, law and systems biology.
The Statistics group benefits from an excellent interaction with
Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland who have accommodation adjacent
to the School.

Appointment will normally be made on the Lecturer scale, 37,382 - 44,607
GBP. Dependent on experience, and in exceptional circumstances,
appointment may be to Senior Lecturer/Reader level for which the salary
scale is 47,314 - 53,233 GBP.

Essential requirements include:
Completion of PhD.
Significant further research experience.
Experience of international collaboration or international research
environments, ideally gained in a research institute or academic
institution outside the UK.
