yes. The GC refers to some charters and prints witness lists from
different years, in which the deans - one each, and one provost each -
appear

therefore it is strange if Guibert remembered a provost in his function
of dean and custos

Huygens (p. 32) suggests shortly before 1120, and if I understand
correctly, he refers to Erlebald's death two years ago
> about him and then being promoted to a Provostship shortly thereafter --but

not a list, but a few charters, so he might have been dean at some time
between the others. But the provost ramks higher than the dean.
> we still need to locate the origin of the "decanus" mistake, however --and/or

decanus
> after all, anyone can confuse "decanus" with "diaconus," can't they?
easily. By the way, it is common to refer to the one and only active
dean of the cathedral chapter as Cameracensis decanus, but one of many
deacons in the diocese would need some more specification
> then why isn't it in the two Reims volumes of the GC? or is vol. III

yes, it includes the archdioceses of Cambrai, Cologne and Embrun.
Best, Herwig
