Workshop in East Yorkshire
22nd-24th of March
Friday 22nd March: Welcome Reception for Participates 6:30pm for 7pm at the
Beverley Treasure House, in Beverley, East Yorkshire
Saturday 23rd March: Full-day field trip (by coach) from 9:30am concluding
with a dinner from 7pm. The field trip will include visits to a number of
Iron Age iron production sites and a tour of the Hull and East Riding
Museum.
Sunday 24th March: Optional morning field trip to Hull Valley Furnace site
to conclude by midday.
The cost per person will be £95 with a limited number (5) of student places
for £65. Closing date has been extended and the registration cost will
include, two nights’ accommodation, the reception, coach expenses and some
meals.

Historical Metallurgy Society 50th Anniversary Conference
14th-16th June 2013
Friends House, 173-177 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ
This international academic conference is the culmination of a series of
events marking the 50th Anniversary of the Historical Metallurgy Society and
will provide a high-level ‘state of the art’ profile of current and future
developments in the various disciplines which HMS represents. The programme
is particularly international and we have speakers and topics spanning the
globe, an event not to be missed.

100th Anniversary of Stainless Steel
19th-20th October 2013,
Cutlers' Hall, Sheffield, S1 1HG
Another anniversary to celebrate this year, on the 20th August 1913, local
metallurgist Harry Brearley made his first arc furnace cast of stainless
steel in Sheffield. Therefore to mark this occasion the 2013 Annual Meeting
we will be holding a two day conference in the Cutlers' Hall in Sheffield.
There will be a mixture of talks on the Saturday and fieldtrips on the
Sunday.
Papers are welcomed on topics covering all aspects of stainless steel, or
other modern alloys. Abstracts for papers should be submitted by 27th April
2013. For more information or to submit an abstract please contact

Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words. Please include the name and
