Bruce,
There's at least a couple of 17th century Native American sites with large numbers of beaver bones: the Buffalo site in West Virginia and the Eschelman site in Pennsylvania both have a few hundred beaver bones.
Guilday, John E. 1971 Biological and archeological analysis of bones from a 17th century Indian village (46 PU 31) Putnam County, West Virginia. West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey Report of Archeological Investigations No. 4.
Guilday, John E., Paul W. Parmalee, and Donald P. Tanner 1962 "Aboriginal butchering techniques at the Eschelman Site (36 La 12), Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Archaeologist 32(2):59-83.
There's several other prehistoric sites with small numbers of beaver scattered throughout the literature. Almost anything by Guilday or Parmalee is worth looking at.

Dear Bruce:
You need to take a look at this paper by Diana Crader on the late prehistoric Richards site:
Crader, D. (1997) Prehistoric Use of Beaver in Coastal Maine (USA).
Anthropozoologia, no. 25,26, pp. 225-236.
best,
Kate Moore
