You pose an interesting question that brings to mind Meno's paradox? ('How
can we search for what we need to know because we don't know what to look
for?').
The implication is any likely readings from within Art and Design would
propose much the same as the ICT already in use but perhaps more advanced.
It may be that you could only get a sound idea from those who were
completely outside Art and Design. If they were effective, they would
propose ICT development necessary to satisfy needs that presume a bigger or
different understanding of the 'Art and Design' field (because the aim is to
change things to be 'better' and this necessarily implies 'not the same').
Because they will assume Art and Design must be different from what it, any
such ICT suggestions are likely to be misunderstood, misinterpreted or
rejected outright by those currently representing the field of 'Art and
Design'.
It will be interesting to see what you get.
One practical suggestion - PowerSim, AnyLogic or Vensim taught to 1st
year degree-level designers.
Another suggestion - MATLAb and the maths skills to support using it.
Another - MA/Carma (MA/Casper) or similar for decomposing and analysing
design situations.
