You are warmly invited to the RCM's annual Crees Lecture:
Thursday 21st February, 5.15pm (Inner Parry Room)
Crees Lecture: 'Chaconne à son goût'
Professor Robin Stowell, Cardiff University
Chair: Colin Lawson
Performing J. S. Bach's Ciaccona (from the Partita no.2 in D minor for solo violin, BWV 1004) has often been likened to climbing Everest. Most violinists sense the 'dangers' and treat the work with profound respect, approaching it in a deeply serious, and sometimes even funereal manner. But there are other viable approaches, as Robin Stowell will propose.
Tickets are free and available in advance and on the day from the RCM Box Office. Visit www.rcm.ac.uk/groveforum<http://www.rcm.ac.uk/groveforum> for more information.
We look forward to seeing you there!
All best,
Katy
