We have been asked by our Finance department to investigate
streamlining our debtors procedures. I would be very glad if you
could spare the time to answer the following questions.
[For your information, Goldsmiths charges the replacement cost of
items for material outstanding after the end of the course. Students
are put on the College’s debtors list for the cost of the books and
any fines over £10. They are then told they will not receive their
graduation certificates until they pay all outstanding debts].
1. How much do you charge to replace a lost or failed to return item?
2. If you charge a flat replacement cost, how much is it?
3. Do you include an administration fee as well as replacement charge?
4. Do you chase students for fines as well as outstanding books once
they have left? If you do is there a lower limit for this?
