Dear all,
In order to ensure that the digital products we are developing are meeting the needs of the target market, we would like to invite opinions on the following questions:
Firstly, when we publish a new or revised edition of a reference work we generally offer it both as an online product (XML content with full-text search, advanced search, browse, save / print content) and as a print product, with the option to purchase both together as a bundle package, or choose between the print and online. The online content is most often offered as single purchase, perpetual access.
We do this to offer librarians more choice, to cater for your and your patrons’ preference for having the content either in print or online format, or having access to both. However, we would like to get a sense of whether such a choice is still useful. If offered the choice of purchasing the online version, the print version, or both, what would be your preference? Please consider in particular the future of collection management, as many of our major reference products that we are working on now will not launch until at least 2015.
Secondly, what are the key considerations, beyond price, when deciding whether to purchase a digital reference work that used to be available only in print?
Please provide your answers through this online form: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/routledgedigitalproducts, or alternatively you can email your response to [log in to unmask]
All feedback would be gratefully received.
Many thanks,
