Dear Lee Gal,
A useful starting point, which I highly recommend, is the chapter entitled 'The domestic fowl' (pages 241-252) in:
Hehn, Victor (1888)
The wanderings of plants and animals from their first home.
London, Swan Sonnenschein
Best wishes,
Simon Davis

Assunto: [ZOOARCH] Hellenistic chicken
Hi everyone, I am looking for any kind of information regarding the history of chicken (domestic fowl) in the Hellenistic period, with a focus on the Aegean Sea, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt or any other part under the Hellenistic rule. Preferably zooarchaeological data, but also other references like figurines, engravings, inscriptions etc. many thanks!
