This post combines a 50% lecturer position in Sociology with a 50% senior research associate role in the DEMAND Centre (Dynamics of Energy, Mobility and Demand) for five years, turning into an indefinite full time lectureship in Sociology thereafter.
The post is open to candidates who have a social science PhD relevant to the EPSRC/ESRC DEMAND Centre's programme, research expertise in qualitative methods, a record of academic publication, and of interaction and engagement with policy or business.
You will contribute to the DEMAND Centre's research - specifically to projects on changing energy and mobility infrastructures and patterns of energy use in the home - and produce outputs at a level appropriate for a strong submission to the Research Excellence Framework 2014 and beyond. You will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in areas such as technology and society, consumption and material culture, environment or other topics appropriate to the department. Applicants with an interest in teaching quantitative and qualitative methods are especially welcome.
