Re Lashzone-Let's face it, if anyone wants to pay someone else to write their assignments, then they can and it may be very hard for us to detect this. There's plenty of other sites offering such services. Perhaps we 'academics' should submit our assignments to them in advance (under, say, 5 different pseudonyms) and then put these through TurnitinUK. I bet they will be struggling to write more than a couple of 'authentic' pieces for the same assignment, so any actual cheats would be easily detected? :-) I am not convinced that blocking the domain or other such measures would be in our interest. And if we design out plagiarism by making sure students have to apply knowledge as much as possible to their own lives and experiences, and for example require them to draw on a minimum number of recent journal articles, then it becomes very hard for cheat sites to come up with the goods. They would require subscriptions to journals and a lot of desk work, so it would probably become economically unviable. How much do they charge for a 2500 word essay?
