Simulation Appointment in Europe. As tradition the conference focuses on
Modeling & Simulation in Industry taking into consideration both

*Workshop Aim*
A holistic view of healthcare leads to an interdisciplinary field of
research ranging from life-science to management disciplines. The
increasing computational power and the tight integration of natural and
computational sciences open the doors to new paradigms in life science
research. The huge complexity of biological systems let deterministic and
deductive methods reach its limitations, thus large scale simulations
together with advanced methods of modeling are new tools to get insight
into the huge diversity of healthcare. This workshop, part of the I3M
Multiconference <http://www.msc-les.org/conf/I3M2013/>, aims to bring
together scientists from engineering, natural and life sciences to
stimulate discussion on new methods and topics in the emerging field of
health care. Tracks shall cover the main aspects of health care. It shall

*Workshop** Aim*
WAMS concentrates on applications of simulation and computer technologies.
Worldwide specialists will have the opportunity to participate and interact
at this important International Forum on Applied Modeling and Simulation.
The audience will include users, vendors and scientists operating in
applying advanced techniques to the main sectors including Industry and
Defence.
The Workshop evolved from AMS2004 (Rio de Janeiro) focusing on Application
and Theory of Modelling & Simulation and the AMS2006 in Buzios. In the
following years WAMS was organized on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean
(i.e. Rio de Janeiro, Italian Riviera), while in 2011 WAMS was part of
International Marine Defence Show in St.Petersburg Russia organized in
Joint Cooperation with SPIIRAS Russian Academy of Science. In 2012 it was
held in Rome and was co-located with M&S Conference applied to Defense.
This year the authors that cannot attend the workshop will have the
possibility to make their presentations by using internet (i.e. skype
teleconference). A reduced registration fee will be available for those who
will not attend the workshop and will present remotely their work.

Dialects of Design Education and Research Conference will explore the

This two day symposium on 10th and 11th of June will be an opportunity for
discussion that bears on the ‘rights and wrongs’ of designs, designers and
designing. Taking an inclusive approach to the definition of ‘design’ –
formal and informal; commercial and DIY; normative and subversive –
the symposium will connect abstract discussions of the ethics of objects
and designing, with concrete examples of things in action. We hope to
engage practitioners and academics across fields including sustainable

The 2013 Joint International Symposium on Open Collaboration (WikiSym +
OpenSym 2013) is the premier conference on open collaboration research,
including wikis and social media, Wikipedia, free, libre, and open source
software, open access, open data and open government research. WikiSym is
in its 9th year and will be complemented by OpenSym, a new conference on
open collaboration research and an adjunct to the successful WikiSym
conference series.
WikiSym + OpenSym 2013 is the first conference to bring together the
different strands of open collaboration research, seeking to create
synergies and inspire new research between computer scientists, social
scientists, legal scholars, and everyone interested in understanding open
collaboration and how it is changing the world.
WikiSym + OpenSym 2013 will be held in Hong Kong, China, on August 5-7,

{MoDe} is a gathering of design educators who specialize, research and
teach in the area of motion graphic design. This event will address the
growing field of motion graphic design and the need for academically driven
text and examples to support and challenge design educators.
Contributors / attendees will be part of a collective knowledge that will
produce a manifesto that describes the impact of motion design, recognizes
leaders in the field, considers the future of professional practice and
academia, builds a foundation for coursework and theory and finally
provides educators a space for sharing, comparing and disseminating
teaching innovations and methodologies. Finally we will produce an e-book
for the iPad that reproduces the concepts of motion by actually using
animation and demonstration within the illustrations and exercises.
