Hi Lorna
And happy New Year to everyone!
I think you need much more information here. Is he type 1 or 2?If an individual has more that one hypoglycaemic attack that requires assistance in 12 months they should be contacting the DVLA (have a look at the website attached. Has this individual been referred to you? If not I would be asking for a proper referral to allow me to get the full details and history and write to GP/diabetes nurse for more information and evidence of complying with treatment.

Happy New Year List.
Please can you help on this one. FLT driver x2 hypoglycaemic attacks in 12 months both times witnessed by management. On one occassion verbally aggressive to manager. Has been suspended by his company manager.(contractor) Now due back at work, employee has reassured management that he will monitor his blood sugars regularly and has agreed to attend diabetic clinics regularly(poor attendance at clinics). This had been agreed by union and his manager. However the manager of the site has concerns about safety issues and does not want the employee to drive an flt for a period of 3 months in order that the company can monitor the employee and ensure that his blood glucose levels remain stable over that period of time. I have been asked for my opinion on this.
Thanks
Lorna
