I would be very grateful if lis-maps colleagues could forward this
information on as appropriate.
Edinburgh University have received funding from AHRC for two full-time,
funded Ph.D studentships, commencing in September 2013, relating to the
research project "Mapping Edinburgh's Social History (MESH): a Capital
Digital Resource". One of the studentships will focus on the geographies
of Enlightenment Edinburgh, ca. 1720-1810, and the other will focus on
printers and publishers in Edinburgh, ca. 1840-1980. The work will form
part of a wider research program to create an Historical Atlas of
Edinburgh in electronic and hard copy forms.
