Hi Olivier,
I don't have references to hand right now, but here in Australia, stockmen shod cattle with horseshoes cut in half and reshaped, when moving them across long distances and rough ground, during the recent historical period (late 19th and early 20th centuries). Let me know if this is of interest to you, and I'll see what I can find in the way of references or images?
Cheers,
Deb

Subject: [ZOOARCH] Cattle shoes
Dear zooarcher,
As the title of my message say it, i'm searching informations on cattle shoes. All kind of references, photo, pdf are welcome.
One of my colleague asked me about one, but it seems that his cattle shoes is very tall in compare of the biggest cattle third phalanx I ever seen...
So, there is my second ask : How thick the hoof of a cattle on its palmar surface?
Many thanks in advance,
All the best
Olivier
