I think the correspondent is actually looking for one of the county reports
which were published in multiple parts under the general title The land of
Britain, and at least one of which was published in 1937.

I suspect that the reference is actually to L.D. Stamp, The land of Britain:
its use and misue, London: Longman in conjunction with Geographical
Publications [2nd ed in 1963, I think]. The date '1937' (observe the slip
back one of the last two digits) can perhaps be traced to the 'Guide on
reading', p.307 in Christopher Fleet et al, Scotland: mapping the nation,
Edinburgh: Birlinn, 2011, p.307 [rh]. The 'HMSO' reference is puzzling.
As for the maps: the published 1-inch mapping should be available on the
Vision of Britain website, and in theory I would expect to find originals in
West Yorkshire academic and local studies libraries - though ofyten these
have either been 'read to distintegration' or outright 'lost'. The original
6-inch field sheets could still be at London School of Economics.

Dear William Harrison,
You could interrogate: copac.ac.uk (and find plenty of holding institutions
in UK); and non-COPAC contributors such as the Royal Geographical Society
with IBG (www.rgs.org<http://www.rgs.org/>) that has, in both its Library
and Map Collections certainly the Stamp book and complete sets of the LUS –
and (like LSE) Stamp [et al.] correspondence.

To whom it may concern, My name is William Harrison and I am a student of
Environmental Science at Bradford University. I am preparing for my final
year dissertation and I am trying to locate a book written by LD Stamp
(Dudley Stamp) on Land Use in Britain, Stamp, L.D. (ed) (1937), The Land of
Britain. The Report of the Land Utilisation Survey of Britain. I have had
some trouble finding this book in addition any land use maps or historical
maps of the Pudsey (West Yorkshire) area prior to 1963 although I am aware
they may be few and far between. Is there any way you could assist me in
searching for these maps? Many thanks in advance, William Harrison
