> This is an invitation to individuals who are planning to attend the upcoming international Writing Research Across Borders conference<http://theodile.recherche.univ-lille3.fr/cms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=322:2014-writing-research-across-borders-iii-conference-&catid=19:appelcontribution&Itemid=41> (WRAB) in Paris (February 2014). Cynthia Selfe and Gail Hawisher are hoping to identify one or two colleagues who might be interested in proposing a Roundtable discussion about Digital Publishing at the WRAB conference.
>
> With the term "born-digital," publications, we are referring to publications that are purely made for digital communication, that are not transformations from paper to digital environments.
>
> Issues that might be of interest in such a an environment include:
>
> • the need for collaborative team-based authoring that includes designers and coders as well as authors,
> • the value of video and audio evidence from linguistic field research,
> • the academic expectations and biases toward print texts as a scholarly "gold standard,"
> • the new possibilities that digital publications provide for pre-publication review and commentary,
> • Kathleen Fitzpatrick's claim <http://mediacommons.futureofthebook.org/mcpress/plannedobsolescence/> that conventional books print texts are entering a period of "obsolesecence."
> • the new genres and forms made possible by the affordances of mediated digital texts
>
> We hope this helps to explain a few of the issues that we might touch on in such a roundtable. Of course, we are also hoping that participants might contribute even more to this thinking.

> If you are interested in joining us on such a Roundtable or please send an email message to Cynthia L. Selfe <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>> know. A key goal of the Writing Research Across Borders Conference is to establish scholarly connections and collaborations across national borders, hence our effort to reach out and contact non-US scholars.
>
> Please do let us know if you are interested, we would love to work with interested colleagues and have them join us on this Roundtable!
