I read the papers with interest and noted that you used Greiner vacuettes were used for the study.
In my two much smaller investigations in 2003 I compared Greiner and BD serum tubes tubes.
There were (from memory) 3 times as many significant problems in Greiner than BD tubes.
I can send you the somewhat disjointed parts of my poster if you wish.

Dear Hazel and others,
The issue of repeat testing of troponin was thoughly explored by a group in Queensland. Some of their papers on the topic are referenced below.
It is not often that there is data on different methods on the same data set and this provides an excellent contribution to the literature on the topic.
Falsely elevated troponin I results due to outliers indicate a lack of analytical robustness

Are you using serum? Microclots in serum are a common cause of high fliers. I have seen many high fliers in serum samples (I did a poster on this at Focus 2004). In my eight years in my current job I have only seen one TnI flier in heparin plasma samples and this was a patient with hyperlipidaema with clumps looking like small breadcrumbs in the plasma.
We do not run troponin on serum samples.

Subject: TNI duplicate measurements
Dear Mailbase users
Can I ask if any of you are running your laboratory Troponin's in duplicate and what assay you use?
We are currently running our TNI in duplicate as we've had a few fliers (causes identified and rectified by manufacturer) but I am interested to know if other users routinely run their TNI assays in duplicate.
Thanks
