Some will have observed that Gregory here has what for him is an exceptionally long beard. Interestingly, in the same set of paintings Gregory of Agrigento, who usually has a long, pointed beard, has a closely trimmed beard that would fit the standard portraiture of Gregory the Thaumaturge:

Possibly these two paintings were mislabeled, either initially or during a restoration.
