Dear Ken,
> Your two-word response – “yes Ken” – seems a bit sarcastic.
you read too much into this. I was merely tired after a very, very
difficult week. I didn't have the energy to contribute more
expansively at the time, nor did I want to let it slide. Perhaps I
should have.
I wasn't making a sweeping statement, but instead offering an
observation from having taught undergraduate and postgraduate
research subjects, not research methodologies, for five years in
adult education. I also feel that it is helpful to others, as it was
to me, to read authors such as Mason, Crotty, Yin, Richardson,
Denzin, Lincoln and Guba, Yates, Creswell (as someone already
mentioned) and so on. Becker and Simon are also useful for writing
research and reading theory. Not everyone has a firm grasp on the
fine points of difference in research issues beyond design. I don't
have the references at hand, but if anyone is interested, these
authors are easily googled.
Another good one is an article about supervision experiences by own
supervisor, Alison Lee, who sadly passed away very recently. This
reference I can include.
all the best,
teena
