Just as a little add on, you might be interested in a recent paper from the
Race Equality Foundation on this subject- it argues that a decline in living
standards is the main cause of the rise in TB cases in London:

ethnic communities in London

It appeared in Radical Statistics Health Group's pamphlet, Whose Priorities?
published in 1976. This was reproduced as an article in the International
Journal of Health Services. If you would like a photocopy of the pamphlet,
please give me a postal address to send it to.

Subject: TB and vaccines
Dear RadStaters,
I think I first learned of Rad Stats long before I ever joined, from the
caption of a figure used to argue that the decline in TB cases in the UK had
more to do with rising living standards and less to do with vaccination than
is commonly acknowledged. Do I recall this figure correctly and, if so,
could someone direct me to the article in which it appeared?
Thanks,
Mark Muldoon
