Dear Marianna,
Have you already looked at the research undertaken by fashion historian
Olga Vainshtein?
Here is an article of hers, it's about prosthetics in general, but quite a
large part dedicated to shoes. She looks at the subject from an
interdisciplinary perspective - considering the disability but also issues
of fashion, beauty, and sexuality.
Abstract:

Article:

She also wrote an article in one of the latest issues of Fashion Theory,
Volume 16, Number 2, June 2012; it's on a similar subject see here:

(and of course through the journal)
Best wishes,
Sofia
