Years ago when I attended the McMaster EBM course we had a session on
Jazzing up Journal Club- ways to make it more interesting. Over the
years here at UAB we have done a variety of things to make it more
interesting.
Currently we use Edmodo.com and post readings of background information,
give homework questions to have a threaded discussion where the
residents teach each other while answering questions. Our JC is also
based around a case that we solve. We have faculty "debates" during it
that the residents enjoy.
In the past we have tried having it at faculty members' houses, moving
it to various places around campus, etc. We have set it up where one
resident team debates another team using the article. We always have
food.
What does your institution do that makes journal club a little more
interesting?
