INDIVIDUAL COMMUNICATIONS FOR THEMATIC SYMPOSIA, INDIVIDUAL PAPERS and POSTERS Proposal Deadline November 15
The Graduate Course on Linguistics in UFC and the Applied Linguistics in UECE Programs invite all researchers to submit their paper presentations to the 7th International Symposium on Genre Studies (VII SIGET), under the theme “Text/discursive genres in multiples spheres of human activity” in the period from September 03 to 06 2013, in Fortaleza – Ceará.
The programme includes: lectures, roundtable discussions, thematic symposia, mini-courses, individual papers, poster presentation, book release and cultural activities.
THEMATIC AREAS:
Researchers interested in presenting papers are invited submit their abstracts in thematic symposia, individual papers, or posters within one of the following thematic areas:
- Genre and language teaching/learning
- Genre and Teachers Education
- Genre and Multimodality
- Genre and Interactive Digital Technologies
- Genre and Professional Activities
- Genre and Literature
- Genre and Cognition
- Genre and Diachronic Language Change
- Genre and Strategies of textualization
- Genre and Multiculturality
- Genre and Multiliteracy
PRESENTATION MODES:
Individual papers for Thematic Symposia: Each symposium will consist of three sessions lasting 2 hours, coordinated and lead by two researchers from different institutions. These symposia have now been selected and are listed at the conference website. Each session will have 4 or 5 papers. Each paper will have 15 or 20 minutes for presentation and, at the end of the session, half an hour for discussion. Presenters must hold doctorates or masters degrees, or be doctoral or master students. Proposals for individual presentations for thematic symposia must be submitted from October 10 to November 15, 2012. Proposals should be submitted through the conference website and they will be distributed to the coordinators of each of the selected thematic symposium for appreciation.
Individual papers: proposals for individual papers will be grouped by thematic areas by the Organizing Committee. This mode is open to doctors, masters, and students in doctoral or masters programs. Proposals for individual papers must be submitted from October 10 to November 15, 2012.
Posters: The 7th SIGET will have two sections for up to 80 poster presentations. This mode is open to undergraduate, graduate and other researchers and basic education teachers. Proposals for poster presentations must be submitted from October 10 to November 15, 2012.
RULES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:
Abstracts should be sent through the event website obeying the dates presented in the previous section. Visit the website at www.7siget.com and enter the Registration link. Each author should submit only one proposal as primary author (with two additional co-authorships), whether for individual presentation in a thematic symposium or poster presentation for evaluation by the scientific committee. Before submitting a proposal for presentation, visit the website and read the abstracts of the thirty offered thematic symposia.
Each proposal should contain:
- between 200 and 300 words;
- three keywords, separated by commas;
- indication of theme, objectives, theoretical and methodological background, results (partial or final) and, if it is the case, conclusion.
The proposal must be posted on the registration form on the event website. Participants should note that there are specific spaces in the registration form to enter the following information: thematic line of work, title, name (s) of author (s), proposal text and keywords.
Proposals will be evaluated by the 7th SIGET Organizing Committee and the Scientific Committee and, subsequently, the selected papers will be announced on the site. Proposals (title and abstract) must be submitted in one of four official languages of the congress: English, Portuguese, French and Spanish.
Every participant may submit one paper as author and co-authored two more, totalling three participations. The co-author participant of a paper must register for the event and validate the registration after the fee payment to have the right materials, the abstract published in the Book of Abstracts and certificate.
