Hi,
We need to revamp our sample processing procedures after the implementation of a track. I went to an Automation conference in Amsterdam a few years ago (fantastic conference) and from recollection speaker after speaker debunked the idea that 20:20 sample processing was the way to go. In models and practical experience, single piece flow was more efficient and workable.
Now from the view point of my lab and the hospital lean team, 20:20 is the only game in town, despite trying to implement this system and failing on a number of occasions. Any body have any pointers on current thinking and any best practice they wish to share?
Most of our errors come from the start of the sample processing journey and it would seem, say with the 20:20 system there are very little checks on correct labelling, booking in etc and in this environment its entirely possible for a sample to pass through the system and be reported without a single check. So to me it would seem essential that there is a double check built into the system at the start? e.g. Some sort of buddy system.
Cheers
